PK Curriculum

The preschool at Nur-Ul-Islam Academy comprises of a program for two to five-year olds.

Since the pre-kindergarten setting represents the child’s first experience in a structured classroom environment, the pre-kindergarten program of Nur-Ul- Islam Academy is designed to provide an environment, which is comfortable, safe, and supportive of the developmental needs of each child. More emphasis is placed on the experience rather than mastery of skills, and on providing a sense of security while encouraging independence and group socialization. It also assists parents/guardians in the spiritual, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of their children. The program facilitates a smooth transition from home into a more structured learning environment. Cognizant that learning is a natural process unique to each individual, the pre-kindergarten curriculum is, therefore dedicated to provide:

  • Opportunities for each child to freely interact with adults and other children in the process of learning respect and developing the quality of consideration for others.
  • A balanced program of teacher- directed and child-centered activities that encourages and stimulates exploration and knowledge of God, oneself, and community.
  • Hands-on experience, which will allow for exploration, investigation and creativity learned through play.
  • A stimulating environment that encourages development in all areas of the language process: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Our Pre-K program provides for the various developmental stages of young students. It also recognizes the student’s needs and stimulates learning in all developmental areas-physical, social, emotional, and cognitive skills.
